Reflection on My Journey Box
The journey box activity's purpose was to have you continue your reflective process on all the experiences that have brought you to this point in your life. The journey box is a literal box containing a themed set of photographs, selected artifacts, literature, informational text, journal entries, awards among other things. The box will also include an index that shows what is in the box. These artifacts all sum up important experiences you remember that form the bases of your knowledge.

This project has allowed me re-cap many of the important events that have molded me into the student, person, and future professional I am. Putting together the journey box was difficult because we were forced to think critically about what is important to us, and at times we take for granted many experiences. I feel that the items in my box truly reflect many milestones that have lead me to where I am today. I am grateful for this experience because it has caused me to reflect on my life and the decisions I have made. Overall, this was an eye opening experience that has allowed me to acknowledge where I have been and where I am heading.
ReplyDeleteFor me, in order to know where we are going to, first we need to know where we came from. At the beginning of this task I did not have clear why I was doing it but once I begin I found it very interesting. I never had the opportunity of ponder about what events drove me here. Insignificant or not each event is equally important because those events made us grow. What I like it the most is that each of us had different circumstances but all of us has the same vision.
ReplyDeleteSeeing as I could not put every single detail of my life in it, it obligated me to narrow it down to what I considered to be the most important aspects. It was a great way to analyze what were the events that lead me to make the decision of becoming an educator. It even helped me see how what I thought were mistakes were actually important factors. Who knows, this might just be a stepping stone to another career, and these experiences have been the road to reach it. The future is still, and will always be uncertain. Only time will tell if the predictions I made will come true or not.
ReplyDeleteThis project for me was very entertaining and creative. I love doing arts and crafts, so that’s why I enjoyed a lot doing this box. This experience was very touching in the sense that we got to travel back to our childhood and relive all those memories. It was like a reminder of all our achievements and the reason that we’re here today. This box contains special items that remind me of my excellence, my perseverance, growing up as a kid, and all those special people that have been by my side through my journey of life as becoming a future teacher. While creating this project I went down memory lane and as I saw the pictures I would have a visual in my mind of that specific day. This box helps us organize our professional life. It tells us “this is who I am, this is where I want to be, and this is where I belong”. It also helps us set high expectations of our future. We put items that represent our future goals, therefore we are expecting to achieve them, and we are not giving up. This box helps us have a clear mind of what we want out of life as future teachers. The journey box is all about memories, dedication, support, determination, excellence, life, experiences, and most of all a passage.
ReplyDeleteThe construction of this journey box was a great experience for me because I had the opportunity to put together what influences I had in my past and how this formed my present life, and my future dreams. I also enjoyed the arts and crafts part of this creation because I could be creative in my own way which is something I don’t get to all the time. The box translates what motives encouraged me to give the best of myself towards my studies and how this motivation influenced me to become an English Teacher. Since last semester (January 2012- May 2013), I really felt that I made the right decision by choosing to study English pedagogy. By making this box, I could reflect on the assuredness I have for making this decision. I then knew that I made the right one. This journey box sums up the unconscious events in my life that lead me to become a future teacher.
